About Gemville (The Original)

Gemville was our first ever Simfic.  We set ourselves simple rules;

1. The first names of our Sims would be a variation of a gemstone
2. Everything in their life would have to relate to the colour of that gemstone (e.g. clothes, decor, last names...)


Sub-rules (these didn't have to be followed exactly):

1. If two colours married one another (e.g. Green & Brown), they would have the option of mixing up their colours, especially if clothes and decor in one particular colour was lacking.
2. Children of mixed marriages could either be a gemstone that incorporated both colours of their parents, or a singularly coloured gemstone (e.g. Green),  who had the option of wearing another colour (e.g. Brown)

Confused yet?  Remember most of these rules had to be made as we went along, as we just wanted to get on with telling the story!  We already had families set in our minds, and we didn't expect it to grow as fast as it did.

We loved writing for ourselves and for the small fanbase that had formed on the original hosting site - The Laden Swallow.  Unfortunately, tragedy struck.  Our computer went kaput and we lost almost everything.  Well, enough to not be able to pick up where we left off.
We've tried since then to re-create the magic.  We tried fast forwarding into the future several years, destroying the original competely and starting from scratch, changing the rules slightly to make it easier on us; but nothing worked.  Gemville it seemed, was gone forever.  But we weren't content to let it go.  Gemville was our baby and we thought maybe it was the pressure of having to take pictures and build a story around it that was draining us. 

So a couple of months ago, we created a neighbourhood and started from scratch (A daunting task for any Sims player), again!  Things seemed different this time and we're proud to announce that the TRUE sequel to the original Gemville is here!
